90-93 WINESPECTATOR: "Fresh plum and cassis notes drive through, underscored by juicy acidity and a backdrop of anise and graphite.—J.M."
92-93 JAMES SUCKLING: "This is a juicy and deep wine with blackberry, blueberry and chocolate character. Yet, it’s refined and flavorful. Lovely center palate."
90-92 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Spicy, floral and polished, the wine is juicy, forward and sweet, with a nice dose of ripe, spiced black raspberries from start to finish. The wine was made from blending of 50% old vine Petit Verdot and 50% Merlot, which is unique for Bordeaux."
90-92 JEB DUNNUCK: "From vines around the village of Macau, in the southern part of the Médoc, the 2018 Château Bolaire is an interesting blend of 50% Petit Verdot and 50% Merlot brought up in just 10% new French oak, with 30% of the blend aged in tank. It has beautiful elegance and purity as well as medium to full body, ripe tannins, notable balance, and outstanding notes of cassis, violets, charcoal, and tobacco. This estate shares the owner with Belle-Vue and has turned out a beautiful 2018 that I suspect will represent a smoking value."
