17 WEINWISSER: "Undurchsichtiges Purpur.
94 DECANTER: "Rich and deep black berry fruit flavours on display, well balanced, notably closing in through the mid palate. The tannins are enrobed with silk, and this is a precise wine with careful extraction. Black chocolate notes, a little bitter right now, add to the feel of a classic St Emilion that is successfully judging the line between glamour and drinkability. Magali and Thibault Decoster since 2005. 75% new oak."
92-93 JAMES SUCKLING: "This is a tight, focused young Bordeaux with dark-chocolate, currant and walnut character. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a lively finish. Some minerals and black tea, too. Very typical."
92-94 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2019 Couvent des Jacobins was picked at 38hl/ha from 19 September, finishing with the Petit Verdot on 9 October and matured in 45% new oak. It has a crisp and delineated bouquet with blackberry and raspberry scents, a discrete rose petal element that emerges with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, the prudent use of new oak allowing the terroir to come through. I particularly appreciate the pepperiness and texture on the finish. This is an excellent Saint-Émilion that should offer 20+ years´ drinking pleasure." - Neal Martin
90-92 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2019 Clos des Jacobins has a very ripe bouquet with raisin and dates infusing the black fruit, opulent and just maybe showing a little sur-maturité. The palate is better with saturated tannins that lend this a silky smooth texture. The oak sticks out at the moment and will need time to be subsumed. There is just a little bit of alcohol evident on the finish. It might well pull together to become a fine Saint-Émilion, but I will be quite prudent for now."
90-92 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Fruity, lush, round and rich, with loads of ripe dark berries, chocolate, espresso and licorice, the wine offers a lot of pleasure in every sniff and sip."
