DECANTER: "Cocoa, smoked blackberries, wild herbs and liquorice-touched dark fruits on the nose. Juicy and mouthwatering, the terroir showing through with a crushed stone and graphite texture and flavour coming in on the mid-palate. This has a lovely refinement to it, the cool fresh touches of eucalyptus, the pencil lead flavour and fine tannins as well as bright strawberry and raspberry fruits which give this a playful edge. Everything seems balanced and well judged with structure and presence in the mouth. Great quality."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A focused and balanced red with blackberry and black-cherry aromas. Some fresh flowers and blanched almonds, too. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and fine."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "In a year of generally rather marginal maturity, the 2021 Clos St. Martin is unusual in that it could almost pass for a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with its aromas of blueberry liqueur, licorice and creamy new oak and its medium to full-bodied, broad and velvety palate. Its prime limestone terroir does show through in the wine's lively spine of acidity and saline finish, even if this is likely to be a bit too stylized for purists."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.
