93-95 THE WINEADVOCATE: "A blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Grand Corbin-Despagne is deep garnet-purple colored and features baked black cherries, mulberries and plum preserves with touches of rose hips, Marmite toast and fallen leaves. Full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, the voluptuous fruit is well framed by firm, rounded tannins and great freshness, finishing long."
92 FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zart floral unterlegtes einladendes Beernkonfit, ein Hauch von Brombeeren und Cassis, zart rauchiger Holztouch. Saftig, mittlere Komplexität, runde Tannine, mineralisch, gut anhaftend, reife Herzkirschen im Abgang, ein eleganter Speisenwein mit Reifepotenzial."
93 DECANTER: "It´s good to see this back after frost stopped production in 2017. The inky colour and dark fruit aromas suggest low yields of great concentration - they were in fact 34hl/ha overall at this organic estate, although the vines for this grand vin were a little more generous. On the palate you get precision and freshness, with liquorice and rosemary notes along with plum and loganberry fruits. There´s some clear austerity through the mid-palate but it opens up to reveal juiciness on the finish. You can feel the texture of the fruit and the power and lift that comes from the ripe tannins. Extremely enjoyable, expertly handled and confident in its firm extraction. Low temperature vinification, no more than 28°C."
92-93 JAMES SUCKLING: "A red with a fantastic core of dark berries and hints of vanilla, as well as firm tannins. Full-bodied, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Big wine with lots of structure. Very well done."
91-94 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2018 Grand Corbin-Despagne is a juicy, luscious wine with quite a bit of near and medium-term appeal. The ripe, forward style works well in this attractive, forward Saint-Émilion. Succulent dark cherry, tobacco, cedar, menthol and licorice all run through this racy, inviting Saint-Émilion. This is very nicely done. Tasted four times."
91-93 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "With a strong floral accent, the wine is silky, polished, sweet, ripe and soft with licorice and black cherries throughout and especially in the finish."
91-93 JEB DUNNUCK: "Deeply colored, the 2018 Château Grand Corbin-Despagne checks in as a blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and the final 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, all aging in 50% new French oak. It has a rich, full-bodied, powerful style as well as notes of smoked black fruits, roasted coffee, earth, and graphite. With plenty of integrated oak, good freshness and purity, and ripe tannins, it´s another solid, impressive 2018."
