|93-95 THE WINEADVOCATE: "This vintage, de Fargues had very low yields due to hail. Pale to medium lemon-gold colored, the 2018 de Fargues leaps from the glass with exuberant notes of lemon curd, key lime pie, apricots and pink grapefruit with touches of fresh ginger, nutmeg and almonds. The palate is relatively savory with a silken texture and bold freshness to complement the understated fruit, finishing with a zesty lift."
92 FALSTAFF: "Helles Goldgelb, Silberreflexe. Frische weiße Tropenfrucht, zart nach Litschi, ein Hauch von Ananas, rauchig, dezente Holzwürze im Hintergrund. Mittlerer Körper, weißer Pfirsich, kraftvoll, dezenter Säurebogen, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, gut gemeistert."
93-96 WINESPECTATOR: "This has a bit more than most of the pack in 2018, with layers of warmed coconut, mango, peach, apricot and macadamia nut flavors, all framed by a lightly singed almond note.—James Molesworth"
95-97 WINE ENTHUSIAST: " Great concentration and power are the epitome of Sauternes, and this hits the nail on the head. The fresher side of the wine, with its crisp lemon zest, balances a dense superrich botrytis tone."
93 DECANTER: "It´s been a tough few years for de Fargues, and again here they are facing a vintage with painfully low yields of just 1.5hl/ha, barely a sliver of their usual production after the hail on 15 July. The concentration that results from this is clear in several ways, most notably the colour, which is a dark gold. On the palate it’s rich and extremely silky, with stunningly clear apricot notes, like apricot paste spread onto a piece of toast, alongside touches of saffron, white flowers and white fleshy pear, which all give focus. It’s clearly a beautiful wine but lacks the usual soaring freshness that is the Fargues signature. No new oak was used this year (usually one-third)."
