Der Mythos Lafleur! Auf gerade mal viereinhalb Hektar Rebfläche entsteht auf Chateau Lafleur einer der berühmtesten und besten Weine der Welt. Gerade mal 1000 Kisten Erstwein und 500 Kisten Zweitwein verlassen Chateau Lafleur jährlich. Entsprechend schwer ist Lafleur zu bekommen. Aber bei uns im Keller lagern einige, darauf können Sie sich verlassen. Inhaber von Chateau Lafleur sind Sylvie und Jacques Guinaudeau, die Nichte und der Neffe der 2001 verstorbenen Besitzerin Marie Genevieve-Robin. Das Interessante an einem Lafleur ist, dass der Betrieb nicht wie viele andere berühmte Chateaux ausschließlich mit neuem Holz arbeitet, sondern höchstens zwei Drittel neue Fässer einsetzt. Dass Lafleur zu den größten Weinen nicht nur in Bordeaux, sondern der ganzen Welt zählt, steht außer Frage.

97-100 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2018 Lafleur is a blend of 54% Cabernet Franc harvested on October 1 and 4, with 46% Merlot harvested September 12 and 15. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rocks up charged with energetic iron ore, crushed rocks and scorched earth notes over a core of blueberry compote, Morello cherries, black raspberries and stewed plums plus suggestions of violets, menthol and cardamom. Full-bodied, powerful, opulent and incredibly seductive, the palate is mind blowing with its through-the-roof velvety tannins and bright freshness supporting layer upon drop-dead gorgeous layer of fragrant black fruits, mineral notions and earth, finishing epically long and perfumed."

100 FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Mineralisch unterlegte Nuancen von Herzkirschen, dezente Kräuterwürze, zarte florale Noten, etwas Nougat und Edelholz, facettenreiches Bukett. Straff, engmaschig, dunkelbeerig und extraktsüß, perfekt ausgereifte, schwebende Tannine, finessenreiche Struktur, kernig im Abgang, salziger Touch im Nachhall, ungemein vielschichtig und sehr lange anhaftend."

18.5 JANCIS ROBINSON: "Darkest crimson. Both spicy and creamy on the nose, and with a cool stony fragrance as well as the delicate but focused black fruits. Darker fruited than many vintages. Silky and papery finesse with dark-red fruit purity and so much charm and finesse in the texture. A touch peppery, very dry, almost chalky, so light and dancing and very long. Open but deceptively so because there is huge ageing potential and depth here. Incredibly lithe. Unique in Bordeaux in its style, finesse and hidden concentration. (JH)"

98 DECANTER: "Another exceptional vintage at Lafleur, with great concentration and intensity, holding back just enough to keep you guessing. The wine is concentrated but creamy and definitely reminiscent of 2016 but with a touch more velvet to the tannins and unlikely to close down as tightly or for as long. Deep dark chocolate and liquorice notes gently layer up next to succulent black fruits and softer floral notes with the more architectural texture of slate doing its bit to add poise and precision. Normal yields were recorded as there was no mildew but being Lafleur they don´t talk in hl/ha but express that as around 3/4 of a bottle per vine!!"

100 JAMES SUCKLING: "The sweetness of fruit in the center palate is incredible with a ripe-plum and currant undertone. Very aromatic already. Full-bodied, tight and compressed with a tannin quality that folds beautifully into the wine. Incredible finish. Such, such power with finesse. Tight but glorious at this stage."

97-100 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2018 Lafleur is a stratospherically beautiful, deeply moving wine. A Pomerol of stunning aromatic intensity and depth, Lafleur simply has everything. All the elements come together in a wine that is both rich and yet also remarkably light on its feet. An exotic mélange of blood orange, sage, mint, sweet rose petal and inky red/purplish fruit add explosive energy, leading to a finish of substantial depth and resonance. Stated simply, Lafleur is one of the wines of the vintage. Don´t miss it!"

98-100 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Let´s get this out of the way from the start: No risk, no fun. Right? This is the wine of the vintage! There, I said it. Now, let me explain why... On the palate, you encounter serious levels of weight and density. However, before you get there you´re greeted with scintillating truffle, licorice, plum, cherry liqueur, smoke and earthy aromatics. Clearly the wine is powerful, fresh and exotic with its mélange of incredibly ripe, red and black cherry fruits. Voluptuous and mouth-filling, the wine covers your palate with fleshy plums that remain a presence for close to 60 seconds. The purity in the fruit is crazy good. There is no doubt this is one of the great vintages of Lafleur. Could it be the best ever? Time will tell -- lots of time as it will take at least 15 years before you should even consider popping a cork. Lafleur is never a wine to drink young; it takes time to show its essence. This very special wine was produced from a blend of 54% Cabernet Franc, 46% Merlot, reaching 14.5% with a pH of 3.65. The Merlot was harvested From September 12 to October 4."

97-99+ JEB DUNNUCK: "More deeply colored, the 2018 Lafleur is one heavenly barrel sample that’s certainly going to end up being one of the wines of the vintage. Based on 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot, all from the gravelly portions of the vineyard, it boasts a massive bouquet of smoked blue fruits, black raspberries, scorched earth, orange blossom, tobacco, and cocoa. Deep, full-bodied, yet weightless and seamless, with a Grand Cru Burgundy-like texture, it has a stacked mid-palate, fine tannins, and a great, great finish. While most wines from the vintage have plenty of upfront appeal, there’s a classic, backward style here that makes me think this will require a solid decade of cellaring."

91-93 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Composed of 46% Merlot harvested September 21 and 54% Cabernet Franc harvested October 4, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Pensées de Lafleur comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of warm blueberries, crushed red and black cherries and plum preserves with hints of licorice, charcuterie, wild sage, underbrush and truffles. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals exquisitely ripe, rounded tannins and tons of freshness supporting the multilayered, vivacious fruit, finishing long with an herbal lift."

95 FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feine Edelholzwürze, schwarze Beerenfrucht, reife Herzkirschen, tabakige Nuancen, facettenreiches Bukett. Komplex, straff und anhaftend, würzige Textur, feste Tannine, mineralisch, feiner Nougat, sehr gute Länge, sicheres Reifepotenzial."

18,5 WEINWISSER: "Granat mit aufhellendem Rand. Intensive fleischige Noten, dahinter Kräuter und rote Johannisbeeren sowie heller Tabak. Am festen Gaumen mit fleischigem Extrakt und verlangenden Gerbstoffen, hier ist alles am richtigen Platz. Im gebündelten Finale getrocknete Wildkirschen, schwarzer tasmanischer Bergpfeffer und frischer Wacholder. Ein grossartiger Zweitwein, der mich noch nie derart bei einer Primeurs-Verkostung begeistert hat!"

93 DECANTER: "This is dextrous and luscious and one of the wines of Pomerol – it has a wonderful creaminess and beautiful texture with bramble-filled and powerful fruits. As the air hits it in the glass you get a violet edge with tobacco and earthy notes offering density but not heaviness and a salty finish. As it does in the best years, Pensées de Lafleur shows the DNA of the appellation, where Lafleur main wine shows the DNA of the estate. Harvest took place between 21 September and 4 October from the 0.7ha strip of clay-dominant gravel."

95-96 JAMES SUCKLING: "This shows such beautiful ripeness and freshness with dark berries, blueberries and hints of dark chocolate. Full-bodied yet balanced and refined with linear drive and brightness."

90-93 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2018 Pensées de Lafleur emerges from a strip of soil measuring 2/3rds of a hectare than runs through Lafleur. The blend is 54% Bouschet (Cabernet Franc) and 46% Merlot, but is the Merlot that really seems to inform the wine, especially in a textural profile that is all about suppleness. Plump, juicy and inviting, the Pensées offers tremendous immediacy and overall appeal. The 2018 is an especially suave Pensées, but there is plenty of structure underneath."

92-94 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "The strikingly pure kirsch stands out here. It´s sweet, ripe and earthy with a hit of dark cocoa on top. In texture, the wine is fresh, sumptuous and polished. Give this few years to age allowing the wine to expand and soften and enjoy it for 10-12 years after that. Made from a blend of 54% Merlot picked September 21 and 46% Cabernet Franc harvested October 4."

92-94 JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2018 Pensées De Lafleur is often thought of as the second wine from this magical estate, but it comes from a designated region of the estate vineyard that consists of slightly more vigorous, clay soils. A blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, it’s possibly the finest vintage to date of this cuvée and offers a beautiful bouquet of smoked earth, tobacco, spring flowers, and ample raspberry and blueberry fruits. It’s silky, seamless, already beautiful, and will keep for 15-20 years."
