|94-96 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2020 Enclos Tourmaline is made from 100% Merlot, harvested on the 16th of September, aging in 100% new French oak barriques. It weighs in with an alcohol of 14.7% and a pH of 3.67. Revealing a very deep purple-black color, it has a profound nose of blackberry pie, blueberry compote and plum preserves, with underlying suggestions of licorice, espresso, black olives and crushed rocks. The rich, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with fragrant black fruit preserves, framed by velvety tannins and a fantastic line of freshness, finishing with great length and wonderful purity."
92-94 FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Tabakig, reife Herzkirschen, feine dunkle Waldbeerfrucht, zart nach Nougat und Kräutern. Mittlere Komplexität, rote Kirschen, frisch strukturiert, integrierte Tannine, feiner Schokoladetouch im Finale, facettenreicher Speisenbegleiter."
18 WEINWISSER: "00 % Merlot, 14.7 vol% Alkohol, 32 hl/ha, pH 3.67, 100 % neue Barriques, Produktion 2´400 Flaschen.
92 DECANTER: "A consistent estate, this has powerful dark fruits - damson and bilberry, good spice and plenty of length. Drinking Window 2025 - 2044"
96-97 JAMES SUCKLING: “A solid, tight red with blackberries, black olives and hints of brown sugar and walnuts. Full and tight with fine, persistent tannins. Tight and focused.”
94-96 NEAL MARTIN: "The 2020 Enclos Tourmaline was picked on September 16 at 32hl/ha and matured entirely in new oak. It has a chiseled bouquet, beautifully defined and focused, unfurling gradually to reveal blackberry, blueberry, crushed rock and light violet aromas. There is a sense of "weightlessness" about these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very sapid and saline, a Pomerol that is keen to get the juices flowing even at this early stage. This has wonderful poise and precision. Perhaps one of the best Enclos Tourmaline vintages that I have tasted since its inception. Highly recommended. Just 2,400 bottles produced."
92-94 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2020 Enclos Tourmaline is impressive. A rich, heady Pomerol, Enclos possesses tremendous depth and richness in both its fruit and tannic structure. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, licorice and mocha abound. The 2020 needs time for the searing tannins to soften, but it appears to have a very bright future. It is one of the most virile wines in Pomerol."
95-97 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Dark in color, the wine shows off its black, blue and red fruits infused with flowers, smoke, licorice, truffle, cigar box and dark chocolate. Lush, supple, fresh and with a gorgeous sense of purity, the wine is concentrated, silky and rich. Made from 100% Merlot, this is a gorgeous, stylish Pomerol. Produced from 100% Merlot this will outstanding with 5-7 years of age. The production is low in 2020 with about 200 cases produced."
94-96+ JEB DUNNUCK: "What could end up being a real superstar in the vintage, the tiny production 2020 Enclos Tourmaline is 100% Merlot, from clay soils, that’s still resting in 100% new French oak. It boasts a rich, powerful, full-bodied style that carries lots of minerality as well as structure to go with ample darker berry and cassis-like fruit, notes of camphor, toasted spice, incense, plenty of background oak, and building tannins. It’s a beautiful wine, but it’s not for those seeking instant gratification. Give bottles 4-5 years at a minimum, and it should keep for 20+."
