90-92 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Made of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Franc-Mayne gives up notions of baked plums, warm black and red cherries and blueberry compote with touches of cedar chest, bay leaves and fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied, it has plenty of juicy fruit in the mouth with a rounded tannin texture and fantastic freshness, finishing earthy."
92 FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Dunkles Waldbeerkonfit, ein Hauch von Dörrobst, etwas Nougat, kandierte Orangenzesten. Saftig, süßer Fruchtkern, frische Kirschen, feine Tannine, ausgewogen, ein guter Speisenbegleiter."
92-94 WINE ENTHUSIAST: "This is a fresh-faced wine with attractive acidity and a sense of lightness and brightness. It offers a bright finish of black currant fruit."
90 DECANTER: "This is a good quality 2018 - they are doing a good job of getting big, rich, insistent fruits without slapping on the oak or hitting the extraction pedal too hard. It has bold, bright red and black fruits, showing good balance although it´s unquestionably big and punchy."
90-91 JAMES SUCKLING: "Slightly stewed fruit to this, but some attractive depth of fruit and ripe tannins. Finishes strong at the end."
91-94 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2018 Franc Mayne is gorgeous. Fresh, bright and nuanced, the 2018 has terrific balance. In this vintage, Franc Mayne is silky and polished, with more of an emphasis on understatement rather than power. Sweet red cherry, plum, mint and white pepper grace this very pretty, expressive Saint-Émilion. Franc Mayne is one of the jewels of Saint-Émilion in 2018. Tasted two times."
90-92 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "On the fruity and floral side, this wine is packed with silky textured, fresh, ripe cherries and licorice with a richness and a soft, elegant, supple, berry-filled finish."
92-94 JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2018 Château Franc Mayne checks in as 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and if this barrel sample holds, it will certainly be the finest wine I’ve tasted from this estate. Elegant and complex notes of black raspberries, black cherries, flowers, and obvious minerality all flow to a medium to full-bodied Saint-Émilion that has wonderful purity of fruit, a fresh, lively texture, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It’s going to evolve beautifully for 15-20 years. "
