93-95 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Villemaurine explodes from the glass with powerful notes of stewed plums, Black Forest cake and blackberry preserves with underlying hints of Chinese five spice, violets, espresso and cardamom with a waft of sandalwood. Full-bodied, rich, ripe and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, the palate is jam-packed with black fruit preserves, framed by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long with layers of opulent exotic spices."´
17+ WEINWISSER: "Sattes Rubinrot. Schmeichelndes Bouquet mit roten Kirschen, Brasiltabak und Eisenkraut, dahinter Rosenholz und getrockneter Rosmarin. Am mittleren Gaumen mit eleganter Textur, sandigem Extrakt mit stützendem Tannin. Im gebündelten Finale rotbeerige Konturen gepaart mit parfümiertem Pfeifentabak. Kann noch zulegen!"
94 DECANTER: "Wisps of coffee and chocolate shavings, this has depth and grip and is an extremely enjoyable glass of wine that is clearly built to last, with walls and ripples of raspberry fruit. The fruit almost seems sweet because of this edge of chocolate, but the austerity of limestone closes its fist on the end of play. Hubert de Boüard consulting. Just as good as the excellent 2018, perhaps even bettering it. Tasted twice, a week apart."
93-94 JAMES SUCKLING: " A firm, velvety red with polished tannins and lots of pretty fruit. Medium to full body, juicy fruit and lots of flavor. Salty undertones. Very attractive young wine."
93-95 ANTONIO GALLONI: " The 2019 Villemaurine has a well defined, slightly earthy, more introspective bouquet than its peers, a distinctive marine scent emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, a judicious sprinkling of cracked black pepper and quite a structured and persistent finish that bodes well for the future. This is very promising. Tasted three times." - Neal Martin
92-94 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2019 Villemaurine is a rich, powerful wine. An exotic mélange of blackberry jam, graphite, spice, menthol, licorice, espresso and chocolate emerges as the 2019 shows off its richness and pure power. This is a decidedly extroverted style. This fruit saw five days of cold soak followed by 30 days on the skins and malolactic fermentation in barrel, all choices that exalt textural depth. The 2019 is simply gorgeous, that´s all there is to it. Tasted two times."
91-93 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Bitter chocolate, plums, licorice and espresso lead the way to a supple textured, lush mouthful of ripe black plums, dark cherries, smoke, licorice and cocoa."
92-94+ JEB DUNNUCK: "This estate has been on a roll over the past handful of vintages, and the 2019 is certainly in the same ballpark as the 2012, 2015, and 2016. Clean, classy cassis and black raspberry fruits as well as high end oak, flowers, and chalky minerality emerge from the glass, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, with a textured, elegant mouthfeel and great tannins. It´s very much in the style of the vintage and is going to be a beautiful wine."
