5 mal 100 Punkte, zudem unzählige 99 und 98 Punkte Bewertungen, wir sprechen von 2022 CHATEAU LA CONSEILLANTE, ein Wein, der in Bordeaux am 22.06.2023, dem Tag der Freigabe, in weniger als 5 Minuten vom gesamten Weltmarkt verschwunden war. Dank unserer Freundschaft zur Inhaber-Familie und natürlich zu MARIELLE CAZAUX, der Direktorin und Winemakerin - ein Sonnenschein an Persönlichkeit - bekamen wir nochmals einen kleinen Nachschlag. Um es kurz zu machen, 2022 CHATEAU LA CONSEILLANTE dürfen Sie sich unter keinen Umständen entgehen lassen, dieser Wein ist die Quintessenz des Jahrhundert-Jahrganges 2022, der beste Wein, der je auf diesem Chateau produziert wurde. Deshalb: Holen Sie sich ein paar Flaschen, Sie würden es bereuen, wenn nicht.
Wir haben den Wein mehrfach verkostet, einmal vor einem ausnehmend generösen Abendessen, an dem wir die vorletzte im Chateau befindliche Magnumflasche 1945 trinken durften. Ex Chateaukeller direkt auf den Tisch des Hauses, mehr Provenance geht nicht, ganz zu schweigen von der schwer mit Worten zu beschreibenden Trink-Freude. Kurz aber zu 2022 CHATEAU LA CONSEILLANTE. 87% Merlot und 13% Cabernet Franc formen einen nahezu magischen Wein: „Tiefe Aromatik mit dunklen Beeren, Kirsche, Orange und Schokolade. Enorm komplex mit derart vielen Facetten und Nuancen, dass man Seiten damit füllen könnte. Cremiger Fluss, irre Frische und Länge (pH 3,65), Salzigkeit. Für uns ganz klar der beste Conseillante, den wir in 30 Jahren unseres Business verkostet haben. Bewertungen bis zum Abwinken mit mehreren 100 Punktern, was will man mehr!“ MARIELLE CAZAUX meint sehr bescheiden zu Ihrem Wein (Kommentar v. 27.08.2023 – 17.50 Uhr): „…2022 La Conseillante shows a bright fruit and freshness. The resilience of the vines combine to a precise vineyard management offered a spectacular wine. There is such a complexity in the aromas, soft tanins with a creamy middle palate. For me, it is one of the most existing wine I have made yet!“

Wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, cherries and plums mingled with hints of licorice, violets and mint, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a concentrated core of lively, succulent, pure fruit framed by beautifully refined tannins, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. Its exquisite structure, intensity without weight and ineffable harmony mark it out as a great Lafleur, and one that will be worth a special effort to seek out. It's a blend of 56% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The texture to this is really something, with tannins that are silky and totally integrated. It remains so lifted and weightless, but then it runs long and tight. Very attractive citrus fruit and blueberries, as well as a touch of tile and ceramic. Caresses your palate. 70% merlot and 30% bouchet (cabernet franc)."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Impressive freshness and succulence to the fruit flavors. Chocolatey character is backed by smooth, well-integrated tannins. Medium to full body. Plenty of dark and blue fruit on the mid-palate, leading to a firm finish. Old vines worked well here. Very structured with solid tannins. 98% merlot and 2% cabernet franc. Better than 2022."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is very tight, transparent and sleek. Medium body, very fine tannins and a racy, bright finish. The tannins are so refined and polished. 74% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 6% cabernet sauvignon. From organically grown grapes."

DECANTER: "Fragrant redcurrant and cranberry. Milk chocolate, vanilla, creamy, fruity and fresh with cherry and plum fruit. Cool and crisp, so much freshness straight away and so sleek, the weight is there in the density of the ripe fruit but this keeps a very slick frame. Lovely movement and energy, softly vibrant but also quite rich - a spectrum of cranberry and blackcurrant and plum fruit gives lots of different expressions with liquorice and tobacco on the finish. Chalky and stony, a lovely mineral grip too. Feels sophisticated, with balance, nothing sticks out, suave and elegant. I love it’s gentle expression though, doesn’t shout but this will be so great to drink and enjoy. I love it. Everything seems to be balanced delicately on a tightrope, with tenderness, density and tension. Really great and more finessed than some Pomerols. 3.8pH. Ageing 8% amphora, 50% new oak, 15% foudre, the rest used barrels. 42hl/ha yield. Green harvests were performed to drop 15-20% of the potential yield, given the team 'had never seen so many grapes on the vines'."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zarte Kräuterwürze, ein Hauch von Heidelbeeren, reife Kirschen, kandierte Veilchen und Orangenzesten. Saftig, komplex und elegant, feine Extraktsüße, reife Tannine, schokoladiger Abgang, feine Röstaromen und Karamell im Nachhall, sehr gelungener Stil."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "One of the great wines of the vintage, and one that can rival its 2022 counterpart, the 2023 La Conseillante wafts from the glass with a strikingly floral bouquet of violets, lilac, raspberries, exotic spices, candied orange, pipe tobacco and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, its textural attack segues into a layered and enveloping core of pure, vibrant fruit framed by sweet tannins and concluding with a long, precise finish. It's a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, some 30% of which is maturing in amphorae. Harvest began on September 7, lasting until October 2, block by block."
